🌊 Our Origin

My name is Sha'ine Jaysmine Young.
We are Syren Waters.

In 2016, my children and I traveled to Ghana with a simple intention: to live closer to land, community, and creative possibility. We were seeking expansion... expansion of perspective, expansion of culture, expansion of what education and healing could look like outside familiar systems.

We arrived in Accra and began learning language, customs, rhythms of daily life. We immersed ourselves in Twi, Ewe, and Ga. We traveled across regions by trotro, moving slowly and intentionally, experiencing the beauty of the country and the warmth of its people.

After a year of exploration, we found land near Akaa Falls: a place full of water, movement, and life. The energy resonated immediately. We purchased a plot and committed to building something meaningful there.

🌿 Building with the Village

We had never built a structure before. What followed was not simply construction — it was education.

We camped on the land and began forming relationships with the nearby village of Akyeremanteng. The village welcomed us with openness and generosity. They shared fruit from their farms, stories around evening fires, and practical knowledge about the land.

Together, we molded mud blocks. Together, we learned how weather shapes building timelines. Together, we navigated seasonal rhythms, cultural traditions, and the patience required to build well.

We were not outsiders building alone.
We were participants in a shared effort.

The early structure taught us:

• How climate informs architecture
• How community informs sustainability
• How land teaches resilience
• How simplicity clarifies priorities

These lessons now inform everything Syren Waters builds.

🌊 Growth Through Experience

During the first phase of construction, I experienced a severe illness. What could have been a setback became a profound lesson in the body’s intelligence and the power of community care.
The village’s plant knowledge, combined with modern medical support and friendships formed during that time, became part of our education in integrated healing. It deepened our understanding of nervous system resilience, structural care, and the importance of supportive environments.
Healing was not dramatic.
It was steady, layered, and communal.

That understanding now lives inside the Syrene Method and the environments we design.

🌿 Rebuilding with Intention

In 2019, we returned to continue building with greater knowledge and clearer structure.

We reinforced the foundation.
We built a stable bridge to ease river crossings.
We completed a roofed structure designed to serve both as retreat infrastructure and as a source of sustainable support for the village school.

The vision evolved from a single eco-room into something larger:

A land-rooted healing infrastructure capable of hosting retreats, structured care, and educational exchange.

🌍 Community & Education

Syren Waters has always been more than a building.

We believe healing environments must expand learning as well. Through village collaboration and visiting educators, we continue developing opportunities in:

• Arts and creative expression
• Literature and storytelling
• Science and applied knowledge
• Technical literacy
• Embodied movement education

**The goal is reciprocity and shared growth**

🌊 What We Learned

Ghana taught us:

• That infrastructure must respect land
• That healing must respect biology
• That progress follows rhythm, not urgency
• That community is part of sustainability

Those principles now guide:

• Structured delivery of the Syrene Method
• Retreat design
• Wellness infrastructure development
• Future haptic and embedded systems through Syrene Assets

The land was the first teacher.
Everything since has built upon that foundation.

Today, Syren Waters operates as:

• Land-based healing infrastructure
• Retreat host environments
• Mobile field operations
• Licensed delivery platform for the Syrene Method

The work continues to expand, grounded in what was learned by building with our own hands and alongside a community that welcomed us as family.

We remain deeply connected to Akaa Falls and the village that shaped this vision.
